THE VINEYARD
El Retono is a small family-run Sauvignon Blanc vineyard located in Kelseyville, Lake County, intentionally focused on sustainable and regenerative farming. 16 acres were planted in 2002, and only 10 rows are of the Musque clone, grown on heavy clay loam soil, where Sauvignon Blanc thrives.
THE WINEMAKING
Sauvignon Blanc grapes were hand harvested at 22 Brix and immediately pressed upon arrival. 100% free-run juice underwent native fermentation in a 100% Stainless steel drum. Battonage (stirring of dead yeast cells) for 2 weeks, bottled mid-fermentation and finished in bottle. Riddled and disgorged after 5 months for clarity.
WINEMAKER NOTES
This aromatic and bubbly white has notes of jasmine green tea, peach, orange blossom, and passionfruit. Bright with acidity and pairs well with fresh lumpia, sisig, and fried chicken.
